We honor the following artists
Diana Davis - One of California Ballet’s earliest ballerinas, Ms. Davis was the company’s very first Sugar Plum Fairy, dancing the role before the full-length The Nutcracker premiered. She assisted Director Maxine Mahon in forming the ballet school, and helped to develop the curriculum which would serve for the next half-century. In the 1950’s Ms. Davis appeared on the Starlight Opera stage with Maxine Mahon. She also danced int he original San Diego Ballet with Ms. Mahon, Thor Sutowski, and Wayne Davis.
Ms. Davis danced principal roles with San Francisco Ballet and the American Ballet Theatre. She also served as Ms. Mahon’s personal assistant during the development and premiere run of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Diana Davis passed away in December 2014. She was a vital member of the CBC family and will be dearly missed.
Leonard Nimoy - The actor who portrayed Mr. Spock on the original Star Trek, garnering a legion of loyal followers and making science fiction mainstream, passed away February 2015 from COPD. More than a Hollywood actor, Mr. Nimoy’s pursuits included poetry, photography, and music. While never a dancer in earnest, Mr. Nimoy appeared on Broadway a d in musicals, most notably as Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof
