The Organization California Ballet promotes productions grounded in the classical ballet art form, and delivers traditional, contemporary and ethnic works to the public as the resident company of the Balboa Theatre and San Diego Civic Theatre. Company artists include dancers from the United States, Japan, Korea, Russia, Mexico and South America, who individually and collectively strive to keep classical ballet in the forefront of the arts and culture.
The Repertory The Company has over 100 ballets in its repertory including major full length classics such as Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Romeo & Juliet, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Coppelia, The Nutcracker and Giselle. Since its founding in 1968, over 1,000,000 people have been in our audiences.

Access and Education California Ballet promotes access and education throughout San Diego County.
Our Student Dress Rehearsal program annually
provides free and reduced price access to over 10,000 low- middle income youth and families. Our Sharing The Arts Program offers free tickets to our performances to a significant population within California's community groups with limited or no access to live theatre. Since its inception in 2006 over 12,000 free performance tickets have been disbursed to groups including Scripps Cancer patients as well as pediatric cancer patients thru the Emilio Nares Foundation and Children's Hospital.
Promising young dancers from the associated California Ballet School (one of the largest professionally staffed schools of dance on the West Coast) enter into the apprentice program, wherein the Company provides professional development and career training to (in 2008-09) 12 apprentices. Dancers deliver interactive assemblies, dance classes, mini-performances, "Meet the Dancers" opportunities, and in-classroom meetings.
