Plan Your Visit – San Diego Civic Theatre

Things to know before you go!

Making the most of your experience

Arrive Early:

Arriving at least 30 – 45 minutes before the performance time ensures an opportunity to find parking, pick up tickets, find seats, and be familiarized with the theatre and surrounding areas. Patrons are admitted to the auditorium 30 minutes prior to the start of the performance. Please allow an extra few minutes if retrieving will call tickets, should there be long reservation lines. Late arrivals will be seated at the discretion of the ushers.

Dress Code and Attire:

Although there is no official dress code, going to the ballet is certainly an opportunity to dress up. You will be able to see many of our patrons attend in jeans and t-shirts to cocktail dresses and tuxedos, especially during the holiday season and for galas. We recommend a comfortable dressy casual baseline.

Assuring a Great Experience for Everyone

Please minimize disruptive noise during performances: Ballet performances are a wonderful event when the community gets together to experience the performing art form at one place and time. Many of our patrons are new comers while others are seasoned balletomanes and aficionados. Please be courteous and respectful to everyone during the performance by refraining from talking, rustling programs, using your cell phone to text or twitter, etc.

Binoculars and Coat Check:

Binoculars are available for a minimal fee in the main lobby as well as in the balcony lobby for select performances.

For the safety and consideration of our artists and patrons please turn off cell phones, pagers and other electronic devices. The use of photographic and recording equipment during performances is strictly prohibited:

Food and beverages except bottled water are not allowed in the auditorium: In addition to the snacks and refreshments sold on all levels of the building, the San Diego Civic Theatre’s central downtown location offers many wonderful options for pre or post performance dining.
