Tess Lane received her dance training at South Bay Ballet under the direction of Diane Lauridsen. At South Bay Ballet she had a strong focus in ballet, modern, and jazz training as well as opportunities to work with Charles Maple, Robert Kelly, and Alicia Head. In addition to her diverse training at South Bay Ballet, she received scholarships to summer intensives with the Joffrey Ballet School, The Washington Ballet, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Sacramento Ballet, Twyla Tharp Summer Workshop, and Moxie Contemporary Ballet. While at South Bay Ballet, Ms. Lane was invited to perform Robert Kelly’s Summertime at the International Ballet Competition in Jackson, MI. In 2010, Ms. Lane joined the Sacramento Ballet as a Trainee, and was promoted to Apprentice in 2011. In Sacramento, she performed George Balanchine’s Four Temperaments, Serenade, Concerto Barocco, and Stars and Stripes. She also had the opportunity to perform Lila York’s Celts and Ron Cunningham’s Romeo and Juliet and Cinderella. Ms. Lane joined the California Ballet corps de ballet in 2013 and was promoted to soloist in 2015. She has been featured as a Lover in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Dewdrop and the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker, and Tinkerbell in Peter Pan. Tess received the Dancer of the Year Award for 2016-2017.
Fun facts about Tess: She is an extremely talented fashion designer and has made beautiful dance wear for many of the company dancers. She has a cat named Luna.
